Welcome to the website for 'Coal Tank' No.1054.

Here you will find a history of this unique steam locomotive, details of the current overhaul to make it operational, planned events, and an opportunity to contribute your reminiscences of this or other locomotives of its type and to ask questions relevant to the work we are doing. For those interested in the finer points of 'Coal Tank' history the RESEARCH page will detail some of the information found during researching the book due to be published on 1054, but unlikely to be included because of space restraints.

1054 is owned by The National Trust. It is currently undergoing overhaul by volunteer members of the 'Bahamas' Locomotive Society, who have cared for the engine since 1973.

The work is being undertaken at the Society's Museum & Workshop -
Ingrow Loco - on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in Yorkshire, and is supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
